Job Description

We are looking for highly motivated people to build the road ahead and invent solutions to challenges never met before. Creativity and perseverance is your attitude? We are looking for you.

  • Duration: 5-6 months (starting from March 2021)
  • Location: Toulouse, France
  • Department: R&D
  • Internship subject: Evaluate build systems for embedded Linux
  • Internship Tutor: Philippe Midol-Monnet, Senior system engineer

The RDOS team builds a tailor-made embedded Linux system for EasyMile autonomous vehicles with a strong focus on stability and cybersecurity.
Currently, testing a small change may require 1h build time. Quickly iterating on a feature is thus challenging. We want to dramatically reduce this time.

As part of this internship, you will:

  • Study the existing build system strengths and shortcomings
  • Evaluate and compare possible replacements like Buildroot, LFS, Multistrap, Yocto and traditional Linux distributions like Alpine, Debian, Fedora
  • Prototype possible solutions
  • Document the pros and cons of each solution
  • Document a possible migration path

Preferred Experience

There is no typical profile at EasyMile, we all come from different backgrounds and that is what makes us strong! Don't hesitate to apply if you are motivated and interested by innovative transportation and technologies.

We are looking for:

  • Engineering school student (2nd or 3rd year), specialized in Computer Science or general engineering, with clear interest for computer science, database and/or software development
  • Essential: Good knowledge of Linux environment, build systems (Yocto, buildroot,..), embedded system and scripting languages (bash, python)
  • Knowledge in Linux Kernel and system administration is a plus
  • You are fluent in English (written and spoken, TOEIC 750 / B2 at least) and willing to be part of an international company and interact with people from all over the world
  • You have a good relationship with coworkers and you are team-working orientated, and able to discuss with other teams to better understand their needs
  • You are organized, autonomous and focused on a defined objective

Recruitment Process

  • One hour interview with the tutor and a recruitment officer
