Job Description

  • Internship subject: Define, implement and test a trailers trajectory estimation and planning

EasyMile has already developed autonomous solutions for trailer towing (e.g. the TractEasy solution). Given a known motion of the tractor, we aim at improving our estimation of the induced trajectories of the trailers. The goal of this internship is to define and implement a modeling protocol of the tractor/trailers system that will allow accurate predictions of the trajectories of the trailers through numerical integration.

As a first step, the studied system will consist in only a single trailer with a forward-only driving tractor, keeping in mind that the proposed modeling protocol should possibly be generalizable to any tractor/trailers system. The main steps involved in this work are therefore to:

  • define an experimental protocol to measure ground truth data on an EasyMile vehicle,
  • apply this protocol on site during a data acquisition campaign,
  • model the system using acquired data (this will involve a bibliographic study of the state of the art),
  • develop a numerical integration tool,
  • and finally use it to validate the model on experimental data
