Job Description

Internship details

  • Duration: 6 months

  • Start date: January 2027 (Flexible)

  • Location: Toulouse

  • Team: EZDrive - Navigation

  • Internship subject: Path planning and control of a pseudo-omnidirectional wheeled vehicle

  • Compensation: 1000€ gross, tickets restaurant, CSE

Internship Context

EZDrive is a dedicated team responsible for developing advanced software functionalities for autonomous vehicles. The Navigation team is responsible for planning the vehicle trajectory during maneuvers and supervising its execution. One of the vehicles we develop features four steerable wheels, allowing for advanced control strategies that improve its ability to navigate in complex environments.

The goal of this internship is to develop a pseudo-omnidirectional steering modality, that will allow the vehicle to maneuver in highly cluttered spaces, that are challenging to navigate using a car-like steering system. This will enable faster logistic operations.

The intern will have to develop this steering modality within ROS based EZDrive autonomous driving software, and test it in a simulated environment.

Missions / Responsabilities

The intern will be involved in:

  • Developing a steering method allowing to plan maneuver trajectories;

  • Developing a multi-input multi-output controller for commanding the four wheels of the vehicle;

  • Integrating the new steering modality in the execution of our maneuvers;

  • Performing tests on a simulated environment;

Preferred Experience

There is no typical profile at EasyMile, we all come from different backgrounds and that is what makes us strong! Don't hesitate to apply if you are motivated and interested by innovative transportation and technologies.

We are looking for:

  • Engineering student (Master’s level or equivalent) with focus on robotics, autonomous systems, or software engineering;

  • Programming skills (C++ and Python).

  • Control theory

  • Language skills : English and French

Desirable:

  • Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar middleware.

  • Knowledge on robotics features (navigation, path planning, …)

  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to work on complex, multidisciplinary challenges.

Recruitment Process

  • 30 minutes call with a recruitment team

  • Meeting with the team, technical tests 

  • One hour interview with the tutor and a recruitment team
